You'll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine. - John C. Maxwell
There is a group on Facebook called "Black Girls Run" and after researching the organization and all of the local meet-up groups, I was so inspired by the women who had stories of never running to now being avid runners. This is something that I've always wanted to do... RUN! However, I blew it off thinking I was unable to do so because of the various negative thoughts I created in my mind.
Let's jump forward to the new year...my mantra is, "This year I will be stronger, braver, kinder, unstoppable and this year I will be fierce." So, as I was working on my goals and incorporating my mantra with those goals, I realized it was time to dust off my dream of becoming a runner and make it a reality. I started with short runs of ten seconds, and I have continued to increase it each session. I started out training one day a week and now I am up to two days a week. I am super excited that I am beginning a running regimen, and my goal is to run my first 5K in the near future.
Like John C. Maxwell states, "... the secret to our success is found in our daily routine," which means if I want to be a runner, I needed to begin a regimen of running. I also realized this applies to everything in life. I have an avid spiritual regimen that I stick to daily. I MUST have my time with Jesus...However, as an owner of a hair and skin care company, where I create and develop products for natural hair, I have not developed a healthy hair care regimen for myself...seems crazy right!?! Well, it's true...so just as I started a regimen for my health, I have also started a daily and weekly regimen for my hair.
So, no matter where you are with your hair, skin, body, self-care or spiritual maintenance, today is a good day to make it a regimen and/or routine. In fact, today is a great day…just think, Jesus set out on a regimented path to the cross and He didn't let anything, or anyone stop Him from His goal! I'm so glad that He remained focused to the finish, because we get to reap the benefits of His sacrifice.
Today is a good day to begin your regimen for your specific goals...If you eat fast food every day, start a regimen to incorporate healthy food and snacks each day and remember building a regimen is a daily process and it will take time. Don't beat yourself up if you get off track...just jump back on! If you are lazy with your hair (like I was), it's time to take it up a notch and start taking care of your strands. If you have let your skin turn to ASH, then start by grabbing one of our great body butta's to bring it back to life. If you never spend time doing something for your own self-care, start now by picking up a hobby or doing something that relaxes your mind and gives you joy. If you don't do anything to keep yourself spiritually balanced, begin your day in quiet time meditating, journaling or reading a devotional...bottom line, make a decision to make a change today!
