Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. - Jim Rohn
I once read an article The Billion Dollar Question by Jeremy Q. Butler that really inspired me. The focus of the article was on achieving your dreams. The article listed five key things needed to achieve your dreams:
- Be Passionate about God and what He put in your heart
- Be Coachable
- Learn the Basics
- Keep Fighting
- Remain Disciplined
As I started to think about my dreams, I realized that even though I have 1-3 from above locked down, I have failed sometimes with 4 & 5. So many times, we allow life to get in the way (enter COVID-19 pandemic and we put life on pause) and it causes us to either stop fighting or slow down the fight. I realized I slowed down my fight to get healthy. Although I changed my lifestyle, by focusing on a mainly plant-based eating regimen, I stopped my frequency of juicing and working out. Since I am eating healthier, it was a great excuse for me to slack off, or at least I thought, which leads me to number five...remain disciplined!
Everything requires discipline. For example: If you want healthy hair, you have to take care of it with regular trimming, washes and moisturizing...a basic maintenance regimen. If you want to get fit or remain fit, you have to maintain a fitness and healthy lifestyle routine. Finally, if you want to make sure you stay spiritually aligned, you need to have quiet time and study God's word. Jim Rohn says, "Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." I realized that no matter how great my dreams to achieve a healthy balance in all areas of my life (self-care and spirit included), the key to accomplishing these dreams is discipline.
No matter where you are today with your dreams or goals, just know that you can get back on track. Keep fighting, remain disciplined and stay positive...remember and believe that you can achieve your goals. Even if you fall, get right back up and keep seeing yourself achieving and maintaining your dreams and goals, because until you can truly believe it will happen, you will never see or make it happen!
I believe Michael Jordan said it best, "I have failed many times, but I have never gone into a game expecting myself to fail."
